Access to the site is by guided tour only. Tour times listed below.

No need to book if you want to join a scheduled tour, just turn up at the time shown.

Please meet me at the turning bay by the shore (see map) and not up at the gate.

Please meet me at far west end of shore road – go past the other remains at Links Battery and keep going.
If driving, come via the golf course road, NOT from the west, whatever your satnav/app tells you!

Payment is by cash only.

Duration – the tour lasts about 75 minutes.

This means you should allow about 90 minutes altogether, including time taken to get back to the car park.

Please note: there are no bathroom facilities at Ness Battery.

Access

Most of the site is accessible for all, with care, but there are some parts of the site with which some visitors may have difficulty. Please contact us if you have any queries about accessibilty.
Most of the tour takes place outdoors and the site is very exposed to the elements, so please bear this in mind – even it seems calm and warm in Stromness, just around the corner at Ness Battery it can be very different!
